We're back with another episode of Alpacademy! Have you ever wondered why alpacas need to be shorn? Turns out it's good for their health! We sat down with a veterinarian in the Peruvian Andes to learn more. Sebastian's field notes: ✔️ Alpacas need to be shorn annually for their health and wellbeing. It’s like going to the vet for a check-up 🧑‍⚕️ ✔️ If not, they can suffer from heat stress, skin infections, and other health issues 🙏 ✔️ Alpacas grow so much fluff that it will cover their eyes if they're not shorn 👀 ✔️ One shearing = 5–10 lbs of fleece per year! ☁️
