Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan Spark Beavis and Butt-Head Comparisons and Memes

Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan's appearance on Fox News has sparked comparisons to cartoon characters Beavis and Butt-Head, from the TV show of the same name.

The U.S. representatives for Florida and Ohio, respectively, have been compared to the teenaged delinquents by Twitter users, who have even taken to editing Beavis' hair and Butt-Head's shirt onto the politicians.

Gaetz and Jordan were interviewed by Sean Hannity on Fox News Monday after Jordan was awarded the presidential medal of freedom by President Donald Trump. The representatives discussed Trump's removal from Twitter and his potential second impeachment.

But Twitter users were quick to notice something else about the interview—they are suggesting that Gaetz bears a resemblance to Butt-Head while Jordan resembles Beavis.

The Lincoln Project shared an image of Gaetz and Jordan next to an image of Beavis and Butt-Head with the Washington Monument behind them and said: "This reboot sucks."

A Twitter user responded to The Lincoln Project with an edited image of Gaetz and Jordan with their faces replaced by Beavis and Butt-Head's faces.

Journalist Aaron Rupar posted a photo of the U.S. Representatives and said: "Not sure about this Beavis and Butthead remake."

Politician Amy Washburn retweeted a photo of Gaetz and Jordan and said: "Is it just me, or do they honestly and truly look just like Beavis and Butthead? LOL"

Carolyn Fiddler, Communications Director at Daily Kos, shared an image of Gaetz and Jordan next to Beavis and Butt-Head and simply said: "I mean."

A Twitter user shared a photo with Beavis' hair edited on to Jordan and Butt-Head's T-shirt edited onto Gaetz and said: "Matt 'Butthead' Gaetz and Jim 'Beavis' Jordan. Fixed it."

Another Twitter user shared an edited image from a different interview that edited a Breaking News banner to say "Beavis and Butt-Head Live-Action Film Confirmed, Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan offered the roles," and also added: "Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan are the political equivalents of Beavis and Butthead for sure."

Beavis and Butt-Head is an animated sitcom that was first aired on MTV in 1993 and ran until 1997. It features awkward teenagers and best friends Beavis and Butt-Head who do dumb things when they are bored, as well as critique music videos.

The show was revived for a season in 2011, and in 2020, Comedy Central announced that Beavis and Butt-Head would be revived for two more seasons, which are expected to start airing sometime this year.
