Tesla, GM, and Ford rely on China for major sales, but the market is shifting. GM’s sales dropped from 2.1 million in 2023 to 1.8 million in 2024, a 14% decline, as local brands gain ground.
Ford sold 455,000 vehicles in 2023, down from 484,000 in 2022, and 2024 sales are expected to be even lower, with only 307,000 units sold through Q3.
Meanwhile, Tesla’s sales surged from 603,664 in 2023 to 657,000 in 2024, an 8.8% increase, with the Model Y and Model 3 dominating urban markets.
Rising trade tensions, tariffs, and supply chain risks could further disrupt U.S. automakers’ access to China, the world’s largest car market, threatening billions in revenue.
