What was the biggest inspiration behind your signature ‘mask’ silhouette?
The inspiration behind my mask silhouette came from the confidence and effortless cool of big sunglasses. Growing up, I’d see my dad in old photo albums rocking oversized aviators, and he always looked so stylish. Bigger shades add swagger—they elevate any look. I also wanted to break away from the tiny frames everywhere right now and reintroduce something bold and different to our wardrobes.
Can you speak to the role that sunglasses play in your personal wardrobe?
I never leave the house without sunglasses—they’re the perfect blend of function and fashion. They add personality, elevate any look, and bring a touch of mystery. And while they’re designed to mask, the right pair makes me feel seen.
Could you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind the colorways and the meaning of the names?
I draw inspiration from many things—architecture, travel, and film. When designing sunglasses, I thought about what was missing in my wardrobe, the colors of the places I visit, and the cinematic icons who embody effortless style. I wanted something structural, timeless, and bold.
Dark Room was the first design that came to me. I was traveling through India, captivated by the red patina of the country, shooting everything on film. Developing that roll in the darkroom, I saw the world through a warm orange tint, and I wanted to capture that feeling in a frame—like viewing life through your favorite roll of film.
Night Drive is a sleek, all-black frame designed to take you from day to night. Inspired by that effortlessly cool moment of driving into dusk with the windows down, it channels femme fatale energy—specifically, Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct. Her style in that film is iconic, and that scene in her convertible, sunglasses on, is exactly what I wanted Night Drive to embody.
Shimmy Shimmy Cocoa Puff is a rich gradient of light to dark brown, inspired by my childhood nickname and my love for dressing in every shade of brown.
What’s your favorite way to style your capsule?
The best thing about these sunglasses is their versatility. Whether you're in a bikini on the beach or layering up with a jacket, they bring a cool factor. No overthinking—just throw them on and go. Lately I’ve been wearing them with fun statement jackets.
When shooting the campaign for this collection, what was the main mood/message you wanted to convey in the images?
The mood was all about being on the go, wherever you are. Shot in my hometown of LA, it naturally has a city feel. The outfits are fashion-forward, yet the sunglasses remain the focal point, highlighting their versatility. Whether paired with a trench for a morning errand or styled for evening drinks, they elevate your look.
What’s been your favorite part about the design process?
My favorite part of the design process is moodboarding and conceptualizing the design, followed by finally seeing the finished product. I love the initial and final steps!
What inspired you to pursue a career in fashion and content creation?
What inspired me to pursue a career in fashion and content creation was my love for clothes, dressing up, pop culture, and glamorous photoshoots. I even found e-commerce shoots to be glamorous when I first started! While working in a corporate environment for a fashion brand, I often felt that my ideas were overlooked or rejected by upper management. This motivated me to create my own space, "@catchmeeksifyoucan," where I could freely express myself and share my passions. The more I shared, the more I connected with others and built a community. After almost eight years working in corporate fashion, I made the leap to full-time content creator and never looked back. Fast forward over 10 years, and here we are—still sharing and connecting, all while using my original Instagram name!
What’s one of the biggest lessons you’ve learned since working in this industry?
One of the most valuable lessons I've learned in this industry is the importance of kindness. You never know who you might encounter later in life, and nurturing relationships is crucial for success. I've had many instances where someone I worked with years ago reappeared in my life through a new company or venture. Leaving on good terms has not only greatly benefited my career but has also led to lifelong friendships within the industry.
What are your top handbag essentials that you never leave the house without?
My top handbag essentials that I never leave the house without are my sunnies of course, at least 6 lip glosses at all times, hand cream, a hair tie, headphones and my card holder.
If you could have anyone’s wardrobe (dead or alive), whose would it be and why?
Great question! If I could have anyone's wardrobe, I'd probably choose Sharon Stone's from Basic Instinct for her sexy yet chic style or Kendall Jenner's off-duty look for its understated vibe. Both women primarily embrace a capsule wardrobe, which I truly admire.
Could you tell us a hidden talent of yours that many wouldn’t suspect upon meeting you?
A hidden talent many wouldn’t suspect upon meeting me is I’m really good at making floral arrangements. I enjoy foraging for wildflowers and creating sculptural, punchy bouquets.
What is the album you have on repeat currently?
Kendrick Lamar - GNX
What is your guilty pleasure at the moment?
I will never turn down a pizza and wine night.
What’s a quote that holds a lot of meaning for you?
A quote that holds a lot of meaning for me is, "You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have." – Maya Angelou. It emphasizes that the more you engage in creative pursuits, the better you become at them. I love how it inspires you to take risks and dream big, reminding us that every act of creativity opens the door to new possibilities and growth.
